A bit late.

1. I like things that devour and consume. As much as the toll we have taken on our planet sucks, its kind of neat once in awhile to think from a humanist' perspective like wow, we messed this whole thing up real quick, if we put our mind to it, we would consume other planets to. No other animal can succeed such a thing, or else they would have,'cause they're trying, we are all always eating and taking from eachother everything and anything we can. Thats also neat about carnivorous plants. Their gound didn't have enough nutrients for them so they started eating insects. My venus flytraps remind me of the old "mouth of hell" depictions. I like the 16th c prints of them the best.
2.alchemy. I have a really cool book from taschen on alchemy and mysticism. I love the old coded symbols and depictions.Back in the day an old alchemist said "wherever we have spoken openly we have actually said nothing. But where we have written something in code and in pictures we have concealed the truth." i also enjoy how confusing the topic of alchemy is. We have discovered how to make gold from base metals,it costs alot more to do it than the amount you get back in gold, and is very rarely done. Those back in the day claimed to have been able to do that easily, but what they were really in search of was different than physical gold. It is hard for many to understand why you would do something if money isnt involved in the reward.
3. Trenton Doyle Hancock. I think Trenton is awesome. If you dont know his work, look him up hes great. His work often involves a complex and continuing narrative of characters who reflect people or situations from his everyday life. Trenton came and talked to us last year and i think it was one of the best things that happened for us here.
